Fairagora Asia is proud to announce that the project Agri AI Solution in Thailand is now officially launching. This project is funded by Google.org and led by Edufarmers International Foundation, and Fairagora Asia is the selected implementing partner for Thailand.
What This Project Is About
Smallholder farmers in rural Thailand have long faced a gap between the agronomic knowledge that exists and what actually reaches them in the field. Traditional extension services are stretched thin and often can’t keep up with climate challenges, pest pressures, and evolving farming practices. This project is designed to close that gap, using artificial intelligence delivered through LINE, the messaging app most Thai farmers already use on their phones.
The AI Assistant gives farmers personalized, data-driven advice on planting schedules, pest management, nutrient application, and more. All in Thai, in a format that’s simple and accessible. Farmers can interact with the AI Assistant through text message and voice message.
What Fairagora Asia Will Be Doing
Fairagora Asia is implementing this project for two crops: rice and sugarcane, working across key provinces including Khon Kaen, Surin, Suphan Buri, and Nakhon Ratchasima — areas where Fairagora already has established relationships with mills and farmer associations.
The project runs from May 2026 to March 2028 and is structured around three core areas of work:
1. Training the AI with Local Data
Before the AI agent can give reliable advice to Thai farmers, it needs to be grounded in what’s actually happening in Thai fields. This means collecting in-field images of pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, conducting farmer surveys and focus groups, and working with agronomists to validate every piece of advice the AI provides. The target is for the AI agent to deliver accurate agronomic advice at a 90% confidence rate, with accurate Thai translations.
2. Training Farmers
7,500 farmers per crop will receive training on how to use the AI Assistant and in-depth Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) training. The goal is not just to hand farmers an app, but to build real understanding of how to obtain advice from AI effectively, why the recommendations matter and how to act on them.
3. Reaching Farmers at Scale
Beyond the pilot group, the project aims to reach 50,000 farmer-users per crop through offline dissemination, digital marketing, community engagement, and partnerships with cooperatives, local governments, and agricultural service providers.
Farmers reached through this project will get free access to the Agri-AI Assistant on LINE. No subscription, no barrier to entry. All interaction records between farmers and the AI Assistant will be protected according to the regulation in Thailand.
Fairagora Is Open to New Partnerships
Fairagora Asia is actively looking for partner organizations that already have large networks of farmers in rice or sugarcane.
Here is what a partnership with Fairagora can look like:
The AI Assistant can be trained with data specific to a particular standard or an existing project, making it relevant and useful for farmers already working within a defined framework.
Fairagora will provide training to farmers in the partner’s network on good agricultural practices and AI use.
Farmers in the partner’s network will get free access to the Agri-AI Assistant on LINE. No cost, no complex setup.
If your organization works with rice or sugarcane farming communities through cooperatives, farmer associations, certification programs, input supply chains, or community development initiatives, Fairagora Asia would welcome a conversation.
A Project Worth Getting Behind
This project pairs the reach of AI with the trust of local relationships. The technology is delivered through a platform farmers already use. The training is practical and grounded in real field conditions. And the partnership structure means that organizations with strong farmer networks can plug in without starting from scratch.
Organizations interested in partnering are encouraged to get in touch with Fairagora Asia directly by filling this form to explore how collaboration could work within the framework of this project.
